Man Behind the Curtain

sales jobs, commisioned based. MLM. jobs.making money with us, Earning money is not hard with us.

At the age of 27, I lost my faith in Mormonism. It had been a long unraveling process, but at 27 I let go of the last few pieces I was clinging to and there it was.

It was like the scene in one of my favorite movies, "The Wizard of Oz" when Dorothy sees that the Great and Powerful OZ is nothing more than a man behind a curtain, just a regular man trying his best to create something powerful and inspiring.

Suddenly, the answers don't lie in the Wizard anymore and he can't help Dorothy get home. And Dorothy, with The Heart, The Brain, and The Courage, has to learn that the power to go home again lies inside of her.

That is an oversimplification of what this process has been like. I am only now, at age 30, starting to have the courage to act on my own truth.

I am not going to church in the new city I just moved to and actually told that Relief Society President when she called that "We are taking a break from church right now while we figure some things out." A bold step for me considering a year and a half ago I was Young Women's President.

So this is an effort to put more of my own truth out there. Maybe to share with loved ones someday so they can understand just why I am making this scary, enlightening, conscious decision to ease out of Mormonism.

Maybe so that others going through the same thing can feel less alone. Or maybe because I just need to say it for myself.
